Hi,
I have a 500GB external harddrive on which i keep backups of all my movies, TV shows, etc.
I wish to be able to watch these on my Wii, as its plugged into my gaming projector.
But the problem is its formatted in NTFS not FAT, so i cant read it with mplayer and geexbox wont load for me,
so does anyone know of any media players on the wii that can read from NTFS?
thanks in advance.

I suggest backing it all up reformat the drive to FAT and put it all back on. Yes i know it is a pain in the rump. If thats what you really want to do then that is my suggestion

The FAT formatting isn't a homebrew restriction, it's a Wii hardware one. Personally, I wouldn't deem it worthwhile to reformat the drive. Then you'd be stuck with a FAT formatted disk. Go out and get an original XBOX, hack it, and use XBMC to stream to the projector.

Thanks for the info,
but i have a question, if the wii hardware stops reading of NTFS then how can Geexbox read from it?
as far as i knew the only USB restriction was that the wii was 1.1 and not 2.0,
if geexbox can read through NTFS they must have some sort of lib for it like the FATlib,
and i just wanted to know if any other media players have something similar,
i cant really format the HDD as its got about 100gb of data and my computer only has 8gb free.
my last resort is to do what i have been doing and transferring each episode one at a time to my memory pen.
sorry for the trouble im fairly new to the wii.

I didn't realize geexbox has ntfs support. I guess it's not a hardware restriction.
