homebrew apps not valid wii applications?

I used the Wii Pack Generator to make the custom pack, and I went to run a bunch of the stuff, and from what I've checked so far, the following apps from the pack aren't working, with the error "not a valid wii application":

Scogger
Space Invaders
Tetris
WiiShip
WiiPaint
Snake2

Also, with regards to the Sega Genesis Plus emulator, GenPlusGX, can I put roms in .BIN format, or should I leave them as .ZIP? I tried running a rom that was in .BIN format, and it froze the Wii. or should roms be .SMD format?

Sorry if this is the wrong spot, but I wasn't sure, so I figured why not..
Thanks!
-Matt

Matt did you etract them? and they could not be working because of being .elf files
and the roms should be in .smd format but they are put into that once you etract them.

when you say about extracting them, which are you refering to? the homebrew apps, or the sega roms? The homebrew apps were extracted when I unzipped the wii pack zip file. and yes, they are .ELF files, but I have other apps which are .ELF rather than .DOL, and those other .ELF files work fine.

The sega roms are zipped, but they are .BIN files. should I only use .SMD files then? or would the emulator convert them from .BIN to .SMD?

you need to extract all the files. And elf files don't always work but .Dol do thats why.
