dual hdd setup anyone? [solved]

I currently have an extra usb hdd kicking around that I know works on my wii (I upgraded drive size). Now I'm thinking I could drop in the second one as just a fat32 with all my movies on it so that I could just load it on mplayer ce and have everything available at once.

in short, I want to know if anyone has done 2 hdd's and if anyone thinks it's at all possible.

Never heard about this before... although I don't own a Wii, I still hadn't heard of this.

It may be possible, but an internal HDD mod for the Wii isn't just plug and play. There will be some custom wiring required to get it going.

BRENTS BACK WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!
Also its very possible your need a HDD Docking base i think though.
As the Current cIOS 38 Rev 14 can only use port 0 or 1 i can never remember.
Also im not sure if Current USB Loaders will check if their is another HDD but they do check for Fat Drives, So it should work in theory. Good luck.

First off, I'm not brent. Secondly, the wii uses USB 1 (more commonly the bottom port). I have plugged both drives in using a hub hoping that they would both work (kind of like a raid array), but alas it does not. What's this about mounting internally? I have standard size Sata drives... So I don't think that would be the most elegant solution. Using the hub I just have to turn on the drive I want to read from before launching mplayer. It works okay but it would be prefered if I could leave both drives on all the time and just select the folder I would like from either drive. I'm on my iPod right now so I'll add pictures of what I mean later today.

Who said the Brent thing was directed at you. I know the Wii uses USB, Also if you want to be able to select which drive, and file, Get GeeXbox, Granted it takes alot of space, but it has all the features you want.

will give it a try later tonight. Thanks for the idea. I'll keep you all posted as to the results sometime tomorrow.

Holy Crap! That was pretty well the solution, it's a little slower than I had hoped but I'm sure it'll come together well with some updates. I'm just glad that I can access both drives on a whim!

Thanks idiots! erm, I mean very helpful people who solved my problem.
