firmware updating help

I installed the softmod for my wii and everything appears to be working fine. I have a backup loader and it runs and I can run emulators from the homebrew channel so thats all good. The problem I have is now when I try and play new super mario bros and i pop the disk in it tells me that it needs a system update. I noticed that before I had 4.1 and now i have 4.1u. Is there a way to safely update it without bricking my wii or losing what I have done? thanks in advance.
