Blu-ray is getting even bigger.

In October, Hitachi revealed that they have developed a four-layer Blu-ray disc capable of storing 100GB of data. WOW. And they aren't stopping there. They actually believe they can produce an 8 layer disc. The problem they are having is with the laser penetrating the upper-layers. The link to the story is below.

Dang. 100GB! A black Bluray disk would be a nice external hard drive.. or one in your Cd drive.

The only problem I see is the speed (rpm) of the disk will be very high and require powerful (and expensive) drives. But the way technolgy is the blu-ray disk will become obsolete in the next 5-10 years
