I have GT5 but can not find a way of getting it to work. anyone got an idea??

What is your issue? Is the disc not being read?

i have backed it up ok. but i just get black screen when i try booting it. i use a disc to boot from, and have hermes4b with 3.50 spoof.

lol it wont work period .... if you wanna play update to 3.50 and play then downgrade but when you downgrade it will format your hd and if you have a old phat system you could lose Blue Ray playback so make sure to backup your dev flash

Aaaaactually now it does work, you need the patched eboot which you can find online and to edit the .sfo file and it boots fine under hermes 4b and openmanager

Note i've only tested the american version.
