PS3, Help swopping Hardrives.

Trading my PS3 with a friends, mines model 3003B, which can't be chipped or modded *can't be downgraded* swopping with a friends CECH-253B (can) can we just swop the hardrives?

don't you have to reformat the drive to work in the new ps3?

Yeah, you will lose all the data on your hd.
