I am thinking i want new Ram. I only have 1GB and Vista eats up a lot of that by itself.

I have a Dell E1505 and crucial says this:

Each memory slot can hold DDR2 PC2-5300,DDR2 PC2-4200 with a maximum of 1GB per slot.*
Maximum Memory Capacity: 2048MB
Currently Installed Memory: 1GB
Available Memory Slots: 0
Number of Banks: 2
Dual Channel Support: Yes
CPU Manufacturer: GenuineIntel
CPU Family: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU T5600 @ 1.83GHz Model 15, Stepping 6
CPU Speed: 1000 MHz
Although the memory can be installed one module at a time, the best performance comes from using matched pairs of modules.

So i was thinking of getting this: http://shop2.outpost.com/product/4789099#detailed

Is that what i need(is it pretty good) and is that a good price for it?

It's a good deal, and it's compatible, but you can do even better. Get this ram instead!!!

The difference is the timings. The Patriot RAM you found can do 5-5-5-15 timings (or 5-5-5-18) which is worse... while the G.Skill RAM I picked out hits 4-4-4-12 timings. If you got this RAM, you'd be more than happy. The difference between a cas latency of 5 to 4 is huge.

I always wondered what is the meaning of those timings. I knew which were better, but what exactly does each number represent?

Yes....I notice a LOT of things different.

Used to when i would run Sidebar, Aero, Media Player, AIM, and an internet browser it would be like at 80% and be laggy. Right now im doing all that and its only at 39% on the dot ;)

Thanks DPM for ur help. At first when i put them in only ONE registered. So i took it apart again and switched them around and now 2 GB all the way. Works sweet.
