It extracts, goes through the installation process, and then ends without finishing with no error messages. Am I missing something?

Weird are you sure the computer you are using can handle the game because its a pretty harsh game to play (meaning you need a good computer even though its a demo.) Try contacting them.

My computer doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of running it (laptop/ 2g DDR2 533mhz @ 4-4-4-12/ AMD Turion dual core 3.2ghz/ 7600 go). I'm just wanting to see what it's all about. I can crank the settings just to see how it looks - all I want... but even after the installation, it doesn't show up on my computer at all and my hard drive capacity remains the same. It's installing but not installing...

It's mean't to be installed on vista.
Your processor won't be able to handle the physics engine aswell try Quadcore.
Seen the 3000 barrel explosion video? It's plain awesomeness.

Oh btw, I did install the demo correctly now. Sorry, I meant to say so. But I'm on Vista, so that wasn't the issue. Idk what the problem was, but it's fixed. Crysis is neat, but my poor little 7600 go just can't handle it above 800 x 600 with low detail.

Okay...
That yielded unexpected results, Good that you got it working though.
Did you put in the sandbox editor aswell? Neat things can be done with that.

I was playing Halo 3 on my laptop earlier. I was using a TV Tuner that plugs into my USB port and AV cables. It wasnt REALLY good quality but playable. If DPM would find that way to add RAM to graphics maybe it would be worth it (hint hint)

I haven't used the sandbox editor, no, but I've played through the demo. It leaves me wanting more, I'll admit, but even so, I'll need to build a desktop computer in order to play it. My laptop just isn't powerful enough. I DID take a screenshot though. The graphics are really intense, even when they're set lower.
