Well, the PS2 is my newest system as well (HA!). I enjoy these games from my collection (in no particular order).

GTA III and GTA Vice City - for the mayhem and chaos that everyone loves. I DON'T enjoy San Andreas on ANY system other than the PC though. That's the ONLY system that can run it properly.

Hitman 2 Silent Assasin - It's definitely dated, but it has a great storyline as well as immersive gameplay.

Gran Turismo 3 and 4 - for the realism and wide selection of cars as well as long play time.

Guitar Hero - I've played the first and third on PS2. Both good, but the third is definitely way better. I was able to get the third one on ebay for $26, so that's not too bad.

Tekken 5 - Holy roundhouse kicks to the left temple, Batman... THIS is a great game, but definitely the BEST fighting game on the PS2. It includes previous Tekken games as well as just about every character from the franchise.

Metal Gear Solid 2 Sons of Liberty - Play this game and thank me later. Amazing espionage/ infiltration gameplay combined with dramatic musical scores and a storyline with more ups and downs than my bipolar ex-girlfriend... definitely one of the best games on PS2. Get the "Substance" version if you can. It has tons of virtual reality (VR) missions and a skateboard game (like Tony Hawk kinda).

haha dude i love the mini-reviews

thanks i'll try out some of those, and i'll probably buy the metal gear solid pack that comes with all 3 games.
the only games i've played are Bully and God of War which are both pretty good. Bully is better than i thought it would be, but really its just GTA only less violent.

i have a 360 a Wii, an N64 a PS2 and a Dreamcast (woo!) and while i have like 30+ N64 games and like 10 Dreamcast games, besides those i only have Halo 3 and Super smash bros brawl. And my psp games and ps1 games on my psp

what are your favorite PSP games?

I missed one. Final Fantasy X (10). It's a great addition to the FF franchise and the first to have a fully spoken dialog between characters. The voice acting is probably a 7.5-8.0 / 10.0, but still worth a play. The storyline has even made a few guys I know cry. I guess a game HAS to be good then.

*EDIT* ~ I think I'm just going to end up making a giant thread sometime with all of my top 10 favorites from each system that I've ever played... oh wouldn't that be a joy? I've been asked pretty often recently what my favorite games are for various systems, so I think I'll make a thread like that sometime soonishful-like.

Some psp games..

GTA:LCS
Socom: Fireteam Bravo was o/k.
LocoRoco is fun for a little while. It is an interesting game.
Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee is fun, I've played a couple of HSG games on the PS2 they are fun as well.
Star Wars battlefront II was fun, it was my first psp game.
Tony Hawk Underground 2: Remix is good.

light alistor is trying to lead you in the direction of modding your PS2. It's probably a good choice if you plan on playing a LOT of games on it, because you can just rent them and back them up on the hard drive (or download them).

On the other hand, it doesn't look pretty when you mod a slim like that because you have to have an IDE cable coming out the back of the PS2 lol. Also, if you're like me, I don't plan on buying a lot of games, so the ones that I do buy are well worth it to me. They're cheaper now and I buy my stuff used, so that's like 80-90% of a price cut for me. Also, the biggest reason not to mod the PS2 is because you'd have to buy a hard drive. That can drive you anywhere from $40 (around 80gb) to $75 (around 250/320gb). I'm also not sure of the maximum size for a hard drive that is allowed, if there is one... but for me anyways, I'm just buying the suckers.

hm... that does sound pretty cool, but i would need to know how to mod my ps2 in order to do that. the thing is though is that you can buy a game now for almost the same as you can rent it

If anybody knows how tell me because i'm interested, but i still kind of agree with Darkpacman

and i agree, i say you make a post called the Darkpacman top ten and list your top ten for all consoles haha

+thanks for the list advent, i have played locoroco and LCS and i like them, i'll give the others a go

heh well the instructions when i modded mine said to have a hard drive of atleast 40. i used a 20 gig maxtor and it was fine. but yea mines a phatty so it'd be more difficult for him for sure. its a fairly simple mod though alot easier then the psp first was for me. id avoid doing a slim though. you might ruin it unless you do hard mods often. i stick to the soft modding.

GTA San Andreas all the way! but dont get it used... One scratch, and It will freeze constantly.
