CPU Problems

Will I am sorta worried about my computer because of this..
Its almost always at 100% even when my computer is idle with everything shut down. Currently I am running windows xp, with firefox and firefox is taking around 2mbs of ram to run sometimes 1.5.mbs well I don't think that is the problem because it wouldn't make that big of a difference would it?
What is the best way I can stop my CPU from being at 100% its not super slow but its like dial up, just to start programs etc or but surfing on the net is fast it just takes awhile for me to click at tab (takes maybe a 30secs to a min to open, but once open goes right to the page).[/img]

Bring up your processes tab and then click on CPU until you see double digit numbers under CPU at the top. It could be one program or various programs that are keeping your computer busy. Post a snap shot again if you like, I am curious.

Kay just did that and...
|System Idle Process| |SYSTEM| |Between 45-75| |16k|
|Firefox.exe| |MY USERNAME| |25-75| |1.5MB-2.5+MB|
The rest are almost always between 0-5

Now you need to look to the left of that 45-75 where it says "Image Name" and investigate which .exe is using that much CPU.
Also there is a patch for Firefox. The older versions had a memory leak. You might want to update if you have not done so recently.

No the |System Idle Process| is the image name of the process that is between 45-75 and it is only using 16k.

Have you checked for trojans or malwares? Simple idea, but a good one.

If your Idle process is between 45 and 75 that means something else is between 65 and 25 using your CPU cycles. You want your idle process to be high. Think about it, idle process. Mine is 99 but my CPU cycles are near 0.

I have checked using AVG 7, AVG AntiRooket, DishCleaner, ccleaner, Spyware doctor and defrag and nothing.

pctsSvc.exe is your problem. I am looking into what it is and how to remove it.

Forgot to recommend that you stop the process and see if it does stop.

Its just Spy Doctor it was doing a scan for malware etc. It just ended.
But my CPU is still at 99%.

Did you update Firefox? If not check for an update then do a reboot. Firefox looks like it is using too much RAM.
