Okay. So. A microcontroller is basically like an open source mini computer.
That's an example.
What should I do with it though?
I was thinking about buying a microcontroller starter kit that would have all the stuff I need like a miniture, 2-line LCD screen and a processor and a link so you can hook it up to your computer!
I was wanting to cut a hole out of a case for this!
And have it inside of the PSP itself!
You can also have buttons for it.
Seems pretty cool. But until there is a need for it, I probably won't do it.
What would you do with it? You can literally program them to do anything.

Make a totally uber remote thing that can turn electronics (not just TV's) off.

I don't want to do that.
There's already that out for PSP.
Just not Slims because they do not have an IR port.

well, u can make it even more uber with this, but whatever. idk, thinking up something like this is harder than it looks

I want it to be able to scroll through program-like things so that one may be like hello world then one could be different....

You know crait, I have a useful idea. You can program it to be a temperature readout panel for the wireless antenna and the processor (and maybe GPU also). If you're able to connect temperature reading thermal pads or w/e to the different internals on the PSP, and found a good place to mount it on the PSP, you might have a good idea. You said it could use buttons? - if so, make the button cycle through the different temperature information.

What's wierd is that I was actually thinking about that last night when I was laying down in bed...
I might do that. It would be fairly easy.
But what else?
I could have it do more than one thing, ya' know?

A "% of battery level" readout?
A "system load" readout? (like hitting ctr+alt+del and watching performance in windows)

if you want to put a screen in your computer, don't use a little junker like that. buy a psONE screen and hack it in to your tower. totally worth it. google "psone screen hack" i'd find the best tutorial for you, but i'm at school and i don't feel like waiting for a proxy to load.

I believe he was referring to putting a microcontroller in a psp, not a computer broseph.

Haha. Yeah. I've seen teh LCD towers and the 360 hacks with plasma screens built into them.
I was talking about using a normal microcontroller like ace 012 stated.
Maybe have it to where it intercepts the current between the battery and PSP and I can just push a button on the back to turn it on too.
Have a Jig-kick battery that has auto-start functionality...
Whoa, that's a lot of words with more than 5 letters! I feel smart!

I would need to connect the microcontroller to the motherboard and that's way outta my league.
Haha.
Rough draft....

hey for a simple add on that'd be sweet. i want to get a really small cell phone and stick it where my umd drive is.
