The World of Facebook
This week Facebook rolled out the latest of its new features: Facebook Chat. Now, I think most people will agree that not everything Facebook has added has been in its best interests -- applications seem to be reminiscent of the clutter of MySpace. But Facebook Chat seems to be a rather forward-moving development for what is quickly becoming a monopoly over internet communication. They now essentially have MySpace, MSN, Email, Message boards, Ebay, Youtube, calendars, and even more all wrapped up in a single package.
Now, I have to admit that like many other students, I'm known to check my Facebook often. For me, the draw is the ability to maintain connections. And with the amount of computers nowadays, I know that I can get a message to someone quickly if there isn't another way to contact them. Though this new Facebook Chat definitely impacted my studying the other night as I got the chance to speak with an old friend for the first time in months.
So...Facebook. What do you think of its direction? The features? etc. This isn't a MySpace v Facebook topic.
