I fixed the original post.

Dude that is one sweet laser. I'm so going to make one later today, but I really do wish I had an extra 16x dvd burner laying around...

you know @ DX they have 200Mw that burn better and cost $50, they also have an unheard of 500mW green laser pen that can start fires in an instant. you'll be spoiled if you like that: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.13512

The burner laser starts fires to, but still both really good.

Hey just wondering why are the blue lasers like ten times more expensive?

One more ting does anybody know if it is illegal yet in canada to get those?

The Blu-Ray uses a smaller laser beam to read Blu-Ray discs. The "pits" that represent data are smaller than on a DVD so more fit on one disc, giving it higher capacity.

Thank u geek... ;)

Anyway, for those out there trying to be cheap and saying "Well heck, il just use that spare CD writer" it says not to. Since it is a IR laser....no more eyes for u.

How is a spare DVD burner laser cost more then a $50 laser the exact same?

the vid makes it look easy, but unless you're into the whole taking out the laser in DVDs then it's not a very easy process at all

It's simple dude, take some screws apart and take the diode out, I'd rather spend a couple dollars on a flashlight and that little Axiz thing then 50 bucks on a new laser.
