i got a toshiba laptop and the power adaptor on it broke. the cord on it split (i guess u could say) and my mom has essentially the same adaptor. i was wondering if i could use hers on mine and it work perfectly

As long as the output power is the same for both adapters, then you can use hers. But as for yours I would just cut the wire off, pull apart the plastic piece and solder the wires back in with some electrical tape or something. As long as you don't pull on it then it won't come apart Or use crimps and shove um in the plastic piece that way it is more sturdy.
