2012 is bunk and here is why...

Anyone watching History channel or Discovery may have heard about the year 2012 end of the world thing. I think it is supposed to scare people but that nothing is going to happen... at least astronomically.
The alignment that is supposed to occur happens every 26,000 years. As we all know the earths history goes back Billions of years at least 3.9. That is how old the moon is as I understand it. I see no reason for the world to end I don't care how much better at calculus some stone age culture was then than I am now.
Most agree that the dinosaurs lived for billions of years and they were wiped out by an impact of some sort; the point I am making again, is that this alignment occurs every 26,000 years and there is no reason to believe that 99% of the species on earth get destroyed with that frequency.
What do you think?

I had to vote no even though some astrology has certain things worth believing in. But nothing that can forshadow the future.

I don't believe that garbage...what i do believe though is that our time on the world will probably end in 1 of a few ways...
1. A deadly airborn/contagious virus
2. Robots (similar to i-robot)
3. Nuclear Warfare

I doubt any of these will undo humanity. Example:
Even during plague and smallpox there were people with immunity to these diseases, there always will be.
Robots won't end us that is Hollywood banking on our imaginations. Someone will always have their finger on the off switch.
Though another nuke WILL go off it won't be enough to destroy the planet. The ultimate scenario which includes nuclear winter is possible but very unlikely.
I believe than an astronomical impact will be the most likely scenario for the end of humanity.

I heard that the mayans say that 2012 is the time the Oracle comes back form the heavens(meaning space)
As those who study history know, many ancient cultures talked about "Gods" who came from the "heavens(space)" in chariots(space ships)" with their "angles/guardian(other space ships?"
Just look at the viking or the ancient sumerians, the sumerians are the most interesting for they know exactly all the planets in out solar system, but they had a extra one, a 10th planet(yes i know there is not 9 planets anymore) where their "Gods" come from.
This planet has never been found, but scientist are saying there is very high chance it exists because its gravitational pull is present and its affects are seen in our solar system.
So just a interesting thing to talk about, because we know these about Ancient cultures to be facts

if a a comet were to hit this is were the safest place(for canadians and americans) for the comet to hit
ok red means Safest the green means its ok but still bad and blue means Good but bad because thats the biggest peace of land earth has the watter is the safest place for it to hit because it will only hit andarctica(the smallest place thats actully a place and no one really cares about) well its either the comet desise a nuke or something like gears of war(desiesd humans take over, k i know its locust but that wont happen.)

im not saying everything would be ok and are u talking about the dude in Armagedon just wondering and if a comet hit iran i would be best for canadians and americans BECAUSE the shockwave would stop about halfway to the US coastline

It was really a joke. Picking on Farquezy is about as easy as picking my nose.
Anyhow IF a comet of large enough size hit say... Iran, if the comet were big enough it would send a shockwave around the the world through the crust and at the opposite point of impact it would cause an eruption from the escaping energy.
In other words instant mountain range.
Anyhow the comet has to be big enough. Most comets explode in the air anyways.

The Mayans actually predicted a lot of astrological things that we would have never thought would happen but did. That's why a lot of people believe they'll be right about the end of the world in 2012.
It's actually said that there's a huge asteroid coming towards the earth (it's like 27 miles wide or something) but it'll miss and go right in-between Earth and the moon. I saw that on Discovery.
I voted that only God knows when the material world is going to end. At that time, he'll create a parallel Earth in Heaven with different and new species of animals and plants.
