Okay so I am always on forums checking out all the new topics and everything and a lot of what I see is "why doesn't sony drop the ps3 price" why doesn't so and so do this etc etc. And I wonder why don't people look at the numbers before they talk, like.....

360 - $250 - 30 million units = 7,500,000,000 - 7.5 billion dollars
PS3 - $399 - 23 million units = 9,177,000,000 - 9.17 billion dollars
Wii - $250 - 51 million units = 12,750,000,000 - 12.7 billion dollars

Who's the winner there? Obviously the PS3 is, since to me and probably a lot of other people the Wii isn't a console. So really why do people complain that Sony needs to drop the price? Yes Sony loses like $30 on every console but they are still in the lead for sales?

Plus I saw an article on Gizmodo or somewhere a month or so ago that said the PS3 was the 2nd cheapest console to BUY (like $5 difference from the Wii). They got all the prices together for each console, like the console, 4 controllers, 3 games, online etc etc And the PS3 came in 2nd like I said $5 difference or something from the Wii. I don't understand why people complain so much?

The Wii is a Good Console just got a rubbish Group of Games. Btw if you add Nds to that and psp Nintendo is a clear winner, sold over 100m Nds's.

Your statement About the controllers is anoyingly True, ive bought 4 remotes 3 have malfunctions, i only bought 1 kfc them 4 months ago... (Pi**ed!)

And people Complain they need to drop the prices because they are poor Or spent their cash on a laptop etr, Also i only use my wii so why would i buy 4 controllers straght away, Your Also forgetting you only need to buy 3.

Yea.. once you get the system out of the way, the prices equal up real fast with games and extras.

I'm not sure how you decided that the ps3 was the winner, looks like to me that nintendo made more money, and in terms of popularity by that list the ps3 is in last.

Although it would be nice imo if sony lowered the price of the ps3 because I really don't have $400 to spend on another system that I probably won't even use, and the only reason the ps3 would be cheaper then a 360 is because you have to pay for a superior online experience, which is how microsoft makes their money anyways, which isn't even calculated into those statistics. But I looked up the prices myself and excluding xbox live charges ($8 a month) it would be cheaper for me to buy a 60gb xbox 360 with 3 more controllers than a 80gb ps3 with 3 more controllers, from gamestop of course!

Excuess me ive bought 12 games 7 downloaded and the ones i downloaded i wouldnt even buy anyways, so how is that hurting it, tell me that. If im not going to pay for it in the first place.
And Don't be a hypocrpt *spelling ftl* if you have ever Downloaded a Rom, a NDS game or anything else you cannot say what im doing is wrong, if you haven't Go ahead, it wont make me change. And just because im honest about the fact i do illegal dealing doesn't mean few thousand people don't.

But still like you said, you didn't include the Live charge. Once that is taken in for account it does cost more, because if you are going to get a 360 you are obviously going to get Live. But anyways I still find it annoying how people complain so much when each console costs almost the same!

You can do whatever you like at home, that is between you and your ISP but there is no need to gloat about it here. Downloading games isn't what this forum is about.

The homebrew community is on a thin thread as it is without people openly advertising their "illegal dealings".

Yea, but most people pay for a monthly service anyways, whether it be mmo's or what have you. I just find it reasonably priced for the service provided, given that a majority of the people I know pay for it as well so yea, theres the reason.

But those prices are beside the point your trying to make, it is quite stupid that people complain about console prices. If you don't like the price then don't buy it! No one is making anyone buy anything, and it pisses me off when people complain about something that is obviously a luxury item and not a necessity. I couldn't agree more with that point you made.

Average console prices really haven't changed much over time if you look back, check this site:

A Neogeo cost as much as a PS3 back in 1990. I think that comes out to $1400 adjusting for inflation in todays dollars. A 3DO system was even more.
