So my mom works for a certain place and they sale their old computers for really cheap. Mostly HPs and IBMs but their graphics design team uses Macs.

Now, i know what to really look for in a Windows and yes i have used Macs (School and Hackintosh) but is there anything major different spec to look at when deciding on a Mac compared to a PC?

EDIT: Yes, i am aware of RAM, Processor, HDD, ect. :wink: And the reason i want one is because we have a graphics design class im taking now in High School and wanna test gfx on a Mac

Pretty much everything in side of a mac is made by apple. I guess the only difference would be the brand and operating system. Ummm either way if you get a mac or pc, as long as it has good ram and graphics card. You are set for graphics.

Mac's are more expensive for the same specs and you really can't open a Mac up and replace parts- You'd have to buy an entirely new Mac to upgrade.

To be honest, I wouldn't compare macs to pc's in terms of hardware. imo, there isn't even a challenge between hardware you can buy off newegg and apple hardware, the price is just so ridiculous. So yea, if you get one just go with what you would with pc's, I mean they are both computers. The only difference between a pc and a mac is the brand of parts and the pre-installed OS on mac's.

They are basically the same, just a different OS. Go with the same processor/ram/HDD/etc that you would want with a Windows PC.

I personaly don't like macs but im predudices against them Like all gaming hardware i think is total Bollox (dnno if that was too rude to put stars in) Personaly Pc has always beeen my friend has always been the best. If you dont mind shipping i recommend a Toshiba Notebook 4 Gig ram 2.16 Ghz 250GIG Vista Laptop, The only badside to it, is that if you are fully using it and take it off the blug it last like a hour before going to sleep. But as i hardly ever take mine out for a walk i don't worry about it.
Also has inbuilt microphone and inbuilt webcam For selling yourself on the internet and making horny sounds at the same time.
Thanks, Alex.

Windows = better for gaming
Macs = Better for production
Linux = hybrid of both.

End of story

Wrong, Macs best of both worlds (parallels) can't do that on Windows or Linux ;)

Windows = Better everything
Mac = Sometimes prettier to look at
Linux = Who the hell plays games on Linux in the first place? Who uses it for working?!
