The sales rep was really cool. That looks like an awesome job. Me and the TV reps were all watching the GA game (LSU won tho :()

Anyway, the guy brought up so many points. I still think im gonna go with my LG32LH40 tv but that plasma looked nice too. The thing the plasma had over the LCD was the bigger screen (42 compared to to 32). The LCD had 120hz and it was 1080P(which the guy said il want for up close watching). He also said 32 would probably be better for gaming sitting that close.

Things to consider
-I dont have HD cable.
-I dont have a Blu-Ray player (yet)
-My rooms really dark.
-Kinda want to prepare for the future (when I get HD cable, Blu-Ray, ect.)

So this is my last question concerning my TV dilima (sp?). LCD or Plasma

Id really like Brent, Advent, and Que, and you too to help me out one final time here. Oh, and will my local channals come in as HD even tho I dont have HD box? Best to ask and be surprised then not and not know

considering that u dont have an hd cable nor a blu-ray i wouldnt recommend any of them, but since your getting them then a neither would be bad idea. Its always ur choice but i'd prefer a plasma.

hope i was helpful.

Can you link to the TVs so we can compare the specs?

With Plasma vs LCD I think plasmas are suppose to have better colors, like they are suppose to really jump out. I can tell you though, that if you get any DECENT HDTV then you won't even notice if the color is any less superior. There are different modes and options to change the picture quality to maximize your viewing pleasure.
I think another bonus is that the refresh rate is much better.

But if you have an LCD tv with a refresh rate of 120hz then it should be no problem.
And definitely get an HDMI cable! Just get it on Amazon if you can, don't get raped by in-store prices of $20+.
How close will you be sitting while gaming? my 32" is about 5 feet away and it seems huge that close.

When you went in-store did you notice any differences in the quality of the pictures? When I went to pick out my TV it looked worse than the other tvs until I messed with some of the settings and it looked great.

Thanks Advent, youve been a HUGE help through all this.

The LG LCD http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp ... 8066285003

The Panasonic Plasma http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp ... 8061795104

I know its bad for my eyes but i usually sit in my chair about 3 feet away.

Yea right now the only HDMI thing I have is my 360 (which I found out will upconvert DVDS! I know still not as good as Blu-Ray though).

The Best Buys had a problem at corporate with the Tvs so the DVD playing on all of them was messed up (weird?). The LG LCD looked nice from what was playing.. But another LCD Tv was playing the GA game and it looked beautiful compared to a plasma beside it that was playing another football game. And the guy changed the channal to show me what a Standard channal would look like.

Monster cables are a rip off! You pay 4x more than you should, sure you pretty much know it will be a quality cable but you get get just as good of a cable for $20. All HDMI cables do is relay a digital signal, in no way does one HDMI give a better picture than another (unless it is just a crap cable) because it just transfers a digital signal. As long as you get an up to date cable (I think the newest are called 3.1) then the signal will look as good as it can.

And looking at the TVs, they both look excellent and I don't think you can go wrong with either. The reviews are excellent for both, the only thing you should look at is if you want a 42" tv or 32". And 3 ft away seems a little close for 42" :P.

EDIT: And also when HDMI cable shopping, there are different kinds of cables and one of the things you might look out for is "shielding?" It is something that protects the wire from interruption from other sources.

Ahh the "Both look good statment". :x lol jk. I do think the 42 is pretty big for 3 feet too...but it would be nice for when im laying down in bed and watching TV (10 feet away).

I guess I dont want to get one and then go dang..I wish I had gotten the other yah know?

Yeah, well it's your decision to make :P. Also I gotta say when comparing upscaled DVDs vs Blurays, the DVDs look GREAT! So if you have a great DVD upscaler then you aren't missing out on too much, except the bonus features of the bluray.

The 360 will be used as a upconverter right now.. and my Mom just asked what I wanted for Christmas and she said that Id probably want a Blu-Ray player so a PS3 might be best. lol.
