A Lesson About Forum Posting:

When creating a post - keep in mind - that you may (infact) be able to address the issues brought up by multiple posters in just one post!

You may be thinking to yourself:

'But that's just crazy talk! Get out of here! That's - that's just crazy!'

No, I'm serious! It's possible!

When two or more people are debating with you - it is possible for your rebuttal to address all of them - at once! And with little to no cost to you!

This will effectively:

-make threads easier to read!
-make you look like less of an idiot!
-save time and posts!
-give people the option to take you seriously!
-increase your self-esteem!

First, let me introduce you to my buddy - 'Ed' The Edit Button. I'm sure you'll be the best of friends!

See him (or her!) down there - at the bottom right-hand corner of your posts?

That's my good friend, 'Ed'! You can call him (or her!) 'Ed', 'Eddie', 'Edward', 'Edwina', 'Eduardo', 'Edith' - whichever you prefer!

'Ed' will really help you out when:

-you mispell a word or create a 'whoops-I-was-drunk-lol' typo!
-you need to fix the information in a previous post!
-you don't have much schoolin'!

Gee, he's a really great friend - and he doesn't mind being used a lot. I can't see why you wouldn't take advantage of him (or her - don't want to offend)!

After you've learned how to abuse and manipulate 'Ed' - let's move on to another important lesson...

Proofreading!:

Proofreading is something you should get used to. It should become automated - much like breathing. Train yourself to actually read the things you present to a public forum! You can do it!

When combining the skills of proofreading, with the abilities of our good buddy - 'Ed' - you'll be an unstopable Internet Forum Warrior!

It's a good idea to read over your posts at least twice - before moving on to another.

It also doesn't hurt to use the good friends of 'Ed' - such as 'Dic' the Dictionary! Let me tell you more!

Everybody Needs 'Dic':

When you're in a pinch - 'Dic' is always there for you! You can visit him via the internet - or - get a 'take home' copy of him to keep by you at all times!

You'd be surprised how effective a little 'Dic' really is!

I don't care who you are - you need 'Dic'.

Some prefer to keep a few - others are happy with one. It really depends on how many 'Dics' you're comfortable with.

'Dic' comes in different shapes, colors and sizes.

Some like a good, lengthy 'Dic' while others are satisfied with the abridged versions. You shouldn't have trouble finding a nice 'Dic' to suite you - they're pretty easy to spot! There is a widget 'Dic', a few websites for 'Dic', Handheld 'Dic' - 'Dic' is everywhere!

If you're living a 'Dic'-free lifestyle - know that you are only kidding yourself.

You're probably thinking:

'I never knew 'Dic' could change my life so drastically...'

It's true! But don't take my word for it - try getting your hands on a 'Dic' and see for yourself!

You might want to start out with a modest abridged version. Just go to your local bookstore - you can get a pocket version for a few dollars! It won't be as 'wordy' for you, and it's not as hard and heavy as a full-sized 'Dic'!

As you become proficient with your chosen language - you may find yourself in need of a bigger, more impressive 'Dic'!

'But...'

What's that? You have an english or creative writing degree?

So do I! But I still use my 'Dic' on a daily basis! It's an incredible tool!

Whenever I doubt myself - 'Dic' is always there to relieve some stress!

Once you really start using your 'Dic' - you'll feel as if a load has been lifted from your body!

After you've familiarized yourself with a 'Dic' - try not being a:

Google Whore / Seeping Vagina of Useless 'Facts':

For the past few years - Google really has changed our lives.

It has made it easier to stalk people, easier to sound like a 'know-it-all'.

Google truly is a marvel!

However, with great power - comes great responsibility.

Copying and pasting everything you find from Google onto an internet forum makes you seem cold and abrassive. Not only that, but it makes you less credible.

Be Careful - Google Can:

-lead you to believe that the G3A3 is gas-operated!
-lead you to believe you're a NAVY SEAL!
-become addictive!

If you or a loved one is addicted to Google - try using 'AskJeeves'. It's much worse, and will help you cut your dependence on Google. If you still find yourself using Google a lot - resort to 'Webcrawler' - it's even worse than 'AskJeeves'.

Hopefully, after you've cut this bad habbit - you will actually start to consider researching things yourself.

Most importantly - try having:

A Sense of Humor!:

Nobody likes a prude! Lighten up, sunshine!

Sometimes, we can be so blinded by our pride that we fail to see that most insults - aren't even directed towards us!

Try not to jump to conclusions!

Perhaps, try proofreading somebody else's post - pick it apart and see if you're really being attacked, or if that person just doesn't know how to channel their anger correctly!

You'd be surprised how many more friends you'd have!

Follow my easy guide - and you're one step closer to being useful!

However - keep in mind that the path is long and treacherous. This is only the beginning.

The rest, is up to you!

Ya whatever, this is kinda just common sense, and needless over the head jokes.

I'm not insulting you, its just it may be common sense however i know members who don't use it.
i just thought it would be usefull for (SOME) members.

Honestly, I fall victim to this type of posting but how often do you really want me posting like a "tight-wad" like I am now? It's not too fun for the members who come here to basically laugh at posts and have fun playing video games. I will, however, try to follow these rules to the best of my ability. Even though it is my opinion that these rules, if enforced, will put a hinder on the overall sense of humor on this website.

So jokes and somewhat sloppy and odd posts are more or less expected.

And by this time they are downright encouraged ;)
