Comfortable "New" Video Game Prices?

So I recently came into $20 extra which I'm choosing to use as an excuse to buy Call of Duty Advanced Warfare 2 for the PC. The only problem is that I purchased it through steam and that sucker was $59.99. Now, before you guys go saying this and that about getting it cheaper - I know. Many have it free, have half off vouchers, signed up for mailing lists and got $10... all sorts of stuff. For me, I wanted it on PC and on steam and so this is what I "settle" for. I got thinking though... "wow... $59.99". That's a lot of money for a game and the most I've ever spent on a new game in my life.
I was just wondering what everyones selective "price ranges" are if you like to support software developers from time to time instead of just stealing.

Leave a vote.

Here in Australia new releases can go over $100. Stop complaining. And before someone brings up exchange rate...
right now $70 USD is $75 AUD. That's still a $25 markup PER GAME! The new PS3 is $300 in the US, $494 here in Australia. At the current exchange rate $300 USD is $322 AUD. That's a $172 markup.

I'm not debating or even considering countries with huge markups, but rather, what people are comfortable paying to the USD amount for any specific new title.
For me, I typically stick to cheaper stuff, but I'm wondering how everyone else buys games.

Option number 1, but there are exceptions.

I think of buying new video games like buying a new car, there is no point unless it's some sort of supercar.
But I did however, pick up Modern Warfare 2 for xbox 360 brand new for $15 yesterday

I don't have that kind of money to spend on games though unless I know I will be playing it for the next month or two.

A must have for me should be $49.
Anything else $39.
But heck, they know most of us will pay the $59 and they wont settle back

$65 represents what the market will bear. I don't think it is fair but it is the price that allows the company to maximize it's profit at least here in America. Overseas (Asia excluded) gaming is a pastime reserved for the well off as far as I can tell.
Historically speaking, games started off pretty cheap and gradually went up in price in line with demand. It doesn't cost more to print off a bunch of disks than it did to assemble and package a game cartridge in fact printing a disk is cheaper than assembling a game cart so the retail price should reflect this but it doesn't.
Therefore the only conclusion that can be drawn is that game companies are maximizing profit by maximizing retail prices. I don't think pirates are to blame for the higher prices because pirates represent less than 5% of the gaming community.
Some games bring in hundreds of millions of dollars such as GTA IV ($500 million+) If you can't pay your bills with that kind of cash and have some left over to put away for yourself something is wrong!
With all that said. I would buy more games if they weren't $65. I wait for the prices to come down or buy a used copy whenever I can if the game is quality. Quality games are the ones that you keep playing even after you beat them. There are so few of them out there though.

I've only bought a few games for $60 without a gift card or discount or anything and they were I think WWF No Mercy (N64), and Killzone 2. I usually wait until I find a good deal in stores or online for $45 for a GOOD game. If it is just some other game then I usually get it no more than $35.
Though right now I can see Dragon Age: Origins being worth $65 if people are looking at it.

U forgot to add the fact that your petral costs near nothing 2.5X as much as it does in the uk,
anyways lol, a UK game like cod cost upto £65, in Aussie cash, thats over $150,
a the average game cost around £40-50 which is around 100-120, so :/

$35
Perfect price.
$20 for PSP and DSi. I'm thinking that the DSi should usually be less. Maybe DSi would be 20 and PSP would be 25.

I'm usually the cheapest of the cheap when it comes to gaming, but I get by. The $0.00 - $9.99 range is right up my alley because I like to find games I'm interested in and beat them to completion and hopefully get some replay value. If I bought games at a higher price, what ends up happening is that I have too many games and not enough time to play enough of the game even to justify paying more money.
I also like the feeling of paying like $3-5 on a used game that you've never heard of or really would play otherwise if it wasn't for the price tag being so low. I picked up Conflict: Desert Storm and while it's still a solid game in single-player, the real fun was going at it with a friend in coop mode so you could each control 2 guys of the 4 man squad. Very good fun a few years back.

Thats exactly the reason I justify paying the higher prices for COD-4 and COD-MW2. Awesome single player.. then you have an amazing multiplayer that can catch you for hours. CoD 4 came out 2 years ago and if MW2 hadn't of came out I would still be playing it. Heck, my cousin and I gave Cod-4 a going away weekend..yes, just for that game.
Then you have MW2 which, as stated, has a great single player experience, then multiplayer that youl love for years to come. Get tired of both? Grab a friend and go into Spec Ops. A special 2 player objectives that will keep you entertained.
Thats what makes a game to me...and all this comes together in Xbox Live. Without my Xbox..and these games..I probably wouldn't have met (now) friends at school.

@DPM - Oh man Conflict: Desert Storm 1 and 2 where awesome games, me and my friend would spend the night and go through the games in a couple of sittings. Have you ever played Freedom Fighters? If you haven't you should pick it up for like $3.
