Xbox Died :(

So as the title says my Xbox finally died. i was play MW2 and launched my 5th Predator missal of the game. As soon as it hit the ground it when my little baby started getting sick. I come back from the camera and start walking around. To my surprise black patches were appearing EVERYWHERE. Well, everywhere except the sky. Yes, my character, other characters, the buildings, and ground were all having black blobs. Pixels isnt the word because there were groups of them. Surprisingly, the sky was not! I thought my TV was messed up but when I pulled the guide up all was fine. Changed the channel-all was fine. Anyway, I finished the game 2 minutes later (winning :)). Figuring the game was just glitchy I started a new game..same problem. I told my buddy KhoasxTheory (Overkill in a tournament we played here) to check my screen when he died in Headquarters to see if he could see these dots and he could not.

I turned my Xbox off hoping it was a little error and as I turn it on I get the E74 Error. Dreaded thing.."General Hardware Failure".

If there is a bright side to this it is its getting repaired for free. Although Im out of warranty this certain error they pay for anything.

Hope you had a good read. This isnt to spark a "Microsoft and their horrible system making" or "Microsoft knew these would happen" ect. I wouldnt trade my Xbox for any PS3. :)

Yup, good old overheated GPU. your GPU just needs to be reflowed in case you're wondering.

I wasnt exactly sure what went wrong. Thanks man. So will they replace it with a new "jasper" GPU or what? While they are in there will they replace anything else to make sure future problems dont arise? I doubt it it but i hope so.

@Airplanes- I deleted your PS3 Statement. The OP specifically said to not spark a PS3 or Xbox 360 debate in his thread. That starts them.

Eh, not everything is a reflow error though. Lots of issues can happen with the GPU or video output.

First of all, I don't want to spark debate between modern game systems so I don't want anybody to respond to me like I am, and I know this thread isn't meant to spark debate between consoles but what in the world is Microsoft doing? I don't see how they can faithfully stand by computer products when they make SOOOO MANY bad computers (Xbox 360's). Almost every issue with RROD involves either the CPU or GPU being faulty or having faulty mounting. Solution? Spend $3 more and get higher quality heatsinks and maybe a few standoffs near the processor and graphics processor to help maintain a rigid motherboard instead of allowing the things to flex all over the place until they fail. I just don't get why they can't make them better. If I bought an Xbox 360 today I'd immediately take it apart and "fix it in advance" - something I shouldn't even have to consider. Dethklok mentions he's had tons of RROD's which require opening the box and fixing it or sending it away for fixing/ replacement. I mean... how old is the 360? My Sega Genesis hasn't ever needed to be opened once. Never even failed. My Sear's Pong unit made in 1975 still works 35 years after the fact without ever needing repair... but Microsoft, one of the richest computer-related companies that constantly sets new standards in the industry can't figure out how to make a friggin' Xbox.

Again, this post is clearly aimed at expressing my dissatisfaction with Microsoft's ability to create a quality unit - not to say that the PS3 or Wii are better because of this because that's just not true. I am, however, stating officially for the record that the Sega Genesis is better.
