ps2 modchip

is it possible to play backed up games on a ps2 hard drive using a modchip? one that doesnt inlude using the laser at all? my laser is busted and im too poor to buy a new one and more interested in modding anyway.

Yep. Just solder that sucker in there, put some games on that 40gb hd and you should be good to go. (Well as far as I can remember, its been a long time since I messed with my ps2)

I don't really have a clue man. I couldn't really find any places that still sell ps2 modchips. Just try to get one with the least amount of soldering require? Is it me or has the whole entire homebrew scene just dropped dramatically?
