I just got 1gb of RAM the other day and I love it. 1.5gb RAM + WinXP + WoW/BF2= yay.
Does anyone actually like anything on vista better then winxp on here? Other then it looking more pretty. lol

There are lots of things that Vista offers, but I honestly wouldn't use Vista unless you have 2gb of ram. I think Microsoft should mandate that. It's my firm belief that most of the Vista complaints about it being slow and what-not come from people installing it on bad computers with not nearly enough RAM. If you need specifics, I could go into it. As it is though, I don't recommend Vista for even 1.5gb of ram. Stay on XP and you'll probably have better performance.

Srew windows and mac With ubuntu you can run any windows any mac any whatever application you want and the best part is its FREE. Its open source so you can modify it anyway you want

Also you have four desktops in each you can run different OS through LNXdouBOOT LNXtriBOOT or LNXQUADBOOT.
I have vista on one square

Possibilities are unlimited.

Don't worry devkit, of course I have Kubuntu installed ;)
Dual boot between Kubuntu + WinXP > Vista
I love Kubuntu and KDE rules. The only reason I have XP is well, because some programs don't work on Wine and so I can play various games. Such as WoW or BF2. Trust me, Ubuntu pwns every OS except other distros. :p At least performance wise.
I don't care if I had 2gb of RAM, I will never upgrade to Vista. The only way I'm getting Vista is if I buy a new computer pre-made, or if they quit charging you to play Halo 2, and lower the video requirements for Halo 2.

My dad just bought a brand new HP computer w/ a Dual core Intel and 1 gb ram. he put in 3 gb ram and he says it still runs like s**t. He asked me to help him "upgrade" back to WinXP and I'm trying to talk him into using Kubuntu.

They can't "lower" the video requirements unless they made an entirely new game with lower resolution textures and what-not - which won't happen and would also be a waste of money. A nvidia 7600 series GPU should be able to pump out enough juice for Halo 2, and those cards are relatively cheap now.

I just built myself a new computer recently.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ Dual Core
3 GB RAM
300 GB 3g SATA HD
Nvidia GeForce 8500 GT
Windows Vista Ultimate (Free *cough*)

Under $900, and Halo 2 runs smooth as hell. Oh and about all of my other games too.

Well I didn't mean literally. I was just trying to emphasize my hate on Vista lol. I am thinking about getting this card:
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.a ... 6814102102
And another 1gb stick of RAM for Christmas. But Christmas is 3 months away so there ain't no telling :p
I really wish they made better processor's for socket 939. O well what can I say, for a 3 year old setup my computer still runs some of the new games. (aside from ones that require high processing speed/video).

AMD Athlon 64 3400+
1.5GB RAM
200 GB EIDE HD
4GB IDE HD (For Kubuntu :p)
ATI Radeon X200 (on board video...bleh)
WinXP home

What can I say, not to bad eh? Then again it was a pre-built, and the most resource hoggin game I play is Oblivion.
If only I could play Halo 2....
