I was wondering that if I got a Japanese PSP and wanted to downgrade, would I be able to use the American 1.50 update?

heya meatshield! i really like your name, it shows passion! haha, but anyways, i heard plently of posts in the past in pspupdates.com about the jap psp using american 1.5 firmware. And even though sony tells us to NEVER install the jap 2.0 upgrade to american psp's or vice versa, we do it anyway and there hasnt been any reports of damages to the psp.

But just to be safe and to let you know...If you install the jap 2.0 and then try to install the english 2.0, it WILL NOT work.

But why do you want to upgrade anyway? 1.0 works with homebrew too! it works better than 1.5 as you only need 1 eboot loader, while 1.5 requires 2.

Honestly, I dont have a PSP(yet), but I was planning on buying the white Japanese one off ebay and I also heard rumors that nowadays the Japanese PSPs will come with 2.0
stock.

no hes saying the u cant overwrite the jap 2.0 with the english 2.0 and vice versa

Oh thanks, but one last question. If I downgrade supposedly if it came with Jap 2.0 to American 1.5, can I update back from American 1.5 to American 2.0 in a japanese PSP?

yes you can

try to sell your psp on ebay or try to change your psp for an american psp, when you sell your psp buy one that's american
