Ok I have been playing the game Crysis on my computer lately and i notcied i could only play lag free on the low quality settings for evyrhting. My pc meets the reccomended requirements and all so i figerd ild just buy another 2gb stick of ram i now have 4gb of ddr2 800mhz ram and it still dosent run properly. This shouldnt be down to my graphics card because i have the GEForce 8800Gt 512mb so does anyone have any ideas why this problem is happening and how to fix it.
(note: my OS is windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit edition)

I would put my dollar on the idea that there might not be adequate drivers for the 8800gt 512mb card when run in Vista 64 yet.

I would take out my Vista hard drive set it aside and install one with XP loaded on it for your setup and then try the game. You will get at least 10% boost in performance from your games by not running them under Vista right now.
All games in general seem to run slower under Vista for some reason, perhaps service pack 3 will fix this, I don't know.
I just want to make clear that I am not telling you to dump Vista, only you can decide to do that. Me? I am holding off upgrading as long as I can, but that's just me.

Well to run my 4gb of ram i need to use my 64-bit edition of vista and i dnt have a 64-bit edtion of xp atm.
(32-bit edtions of windows can only handle 3gb max ram)

I think video ram is what you need to worry about more than on board ram. The game only needs 1 Gb of ram under XP so even if you fed it two I think that would be plenty.
If I had the time and your setup I would try that for an experiment. I am interested in your results if you do try it and care to post.

Read about this first:
http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/system/pl ... AEmem.mspx
"Physical Address Extension. PAE is an Intel-provided memory address extension that enables support of up to 64 GB of physical memory for applications running on most 32-bit (IA-32) Intel Pentium Pro and later platforms. Support for PAE is provided under Windows 2000 and 32-bit versions of Windows XP and Windows Server 2003"

32-bit operating systems generally can't go higher than 3.1gb / MINUS the graphics card's DDR3 RAM. Your problems should be resolved for vista if you wait. If you don't want to wait, you may want to try heading to a previous operating system like windows XP 64-bit. You should research on which has the best driver support for your card, or when an expected driver release will be available for your current operating system, and then make the decision if changing your operating system is right for you.

I do not have the hardware to try it but the link I posted is from Micro$oft and it explains how to overcome the 3Gb barrier.
