Hi just tried ripping a DVD and converting it using PSP9 and watching it on my PSP.

Just wondering how this quality compares to a UMD movie ( I dont own any UMD movies ) and does the quality differ by using different PSP DVD converting software???

absolutley...well actually if ur DVD that ur ripping is VERY clear, then it wont manke much diference but the umd is still better in picture. however, if it is a downloaded movie with bad quality, then the umd is 100,000 times more clear (if thedownload isnt too clear to begin with.)

I tried converting many video files, they all come out bad quality, what did you use to rip/convert? and what settings, and what is the quality like?

I used ripped a DVD with DVD decrypter and used PSP9 to convert. The quality seemed quite good. Thats why i was wondering if there was any point buying movies on UMD? When u can just buy a DVD, which has extras on it. You can watch it on your DVD player and you can rip it to your PSP

I agree with you. No need to buy movies on UMD, unless you don't have much space or MS.. Because each movie will be about 300mb.. 512MB will cost you at least 60 bucks or so, so ppl just go the easy way, plus not everyone knows how to convert.
Could you tell me which format did you choose on PSP Video 9 ?
