1.50 to 1.0 Downgrader

It’s been confirmed that the 1.50 to 1.0 downgrader released earlier today does indeed work.

It has been confirmed that 100% of ‘virgin’ 1.5 PSPs downgrade to 1.0 smoothly.

How do we define ‘virgin’ firmware 1.5 PSPs? If you BOUGHT your PSP with the 1.5 firmware ALREADY on it, and have NEVER upgraded or downgraded since the purchase, then you have a virgin PSP.

Out of 5 tests on these untouched firmware 1.5 PSPs, 100% of them downgraded to 1.0 without a hitch, and with region coding removed.

What does this mean? Devs can NOW start making custom firmware for the PSP. The process used by the firmware flasher is using custom code to replace the NAND memory with new root files. Therefore, since we are NOT using the upgrade EBOOTs to downgrade, almost ANYTHING can be written to the firmware.

Team SXT, Yoshihiro, and PSP3D are currently working on finding out how to get this firmware flasher to work with all versions of the 1.5 PSP, so that we can have custom firmware for all!

Think about it. All the features on the new 2.6 firmware on a CUSTOMIZED firmware which is made by devs to support homebrew, yet have all the features of 2.6, and more, as we can now incorporate Flash and other codecs, like DivX into our custom firmwares.

Howto:
- Put the two folders in the /GAME/ directory of you original 1.5 PSP.
- Put the .bin file in the ROOT of your memory stick.
- Run the EBOOT from your PSP.

Remember - DO NOT run this if you’ve upgraded/downgraded your 1.50 PSP - you will brick it. This means, if you have upgraded from 1.50 to 2.0, then downgraded back to 1.50 and you attempt to run this downgrader, you will damage your PSP and it will forever be rendered useless. This includes using homebrew which writes to the firmware - PSPersonalize, PSPset, etc… this will de-virginize your PSP.

THIS ONLY WORKS WITH VIRGIN 1.50 PSPs.

now that sounds kool and everthing but i went to sonyxteam.co just to make sure and found this

IT WAS LEAKED, WE DIDN'T AUTHORISE PSP3D TO RELEASE IT, IT'S A BETA AND A PSP BRICKER IN ITS ACTUAL STATE !!!!

2 days ago we gave some psp3d members a nandwritter tool with an inclueded nand to flash with for testing purposes since we couldn't afford to brick any more psp, we created it all and it indeed comes from us, the deal was that they test it and if it did work they would post the final version as an exclusive on their website.

they bricked a psp (so it doesn't work) , now they claim it downgrade any "virgin" psp to 1.00

They even supplied the nand binary we provided they don't seem to care if it's copyrighted content!!!! (you can know it's from me, just hex edit it and search for my username (Mathieulh) also you will notice that there are not only english texts inside it, it means it comes from an 1.50 psp)....

(to be more specific it comes from my own 1.50 European psp with changed backgrouds using the debug unit backgrouds (the same as the ones in the bogus update...))

However it's IMPOSSIBLE for anyone to downgrade to 1.00 using the provided nand since it's a 1.50 nand!!

Let me now explain how the tool works.

It flashes the WHOLE nand data into your psp, whether your psp is "virgin" or not, should'nt matter.
We allready tried to write the nand using page writting, however it failed and bricked one of our own psp, the tool they leaked (since it's a beta and a potential psp bricker and that we never allowed them to release that version, the deal was to test it, ) was meant to preform a block writting and had high chances to work.
Using it will brick your psp for sure!


Also know that psp3d did nothing to create this program! On their website they claim that we both created it.... They don't even own the sources or the nand dumper !! (we can post them if you don't believe us) they didn't manage to use an undocumented and tricky API such as scenand, didn't discover how to remove the nand writting protection, how to dump the nand, etc etc.....

In fact they didn't code a thing and were here only for test purposes, next time we will just create a testing section on the forums here....

By the way it didn't remove the region coding either, howver if it worked it would have switch the psp to region 2.

And again, no there was no way it could have downgraded to 1.00 since we don't even own a 1.00 nand yet !! (and neither did them since they don't know how to dump it)
And yes we know where the region is located, but since we didin't figure out how to write on the nand correctly we don't know how to create a region changer yet.

We would need more people to test, or a psp with hardware access to the nand chip with something such as a jtag device, and yes we think (we are very confident in that point) that we know how to create hybrid firmwares, but we don't have thousands psp to brick....

If we don't find other testers I am affraid we wont be able to continue our work regarding the nand flasher.

In fact I might share a nand for educational purposes, I am still thinking about it.

UPDATE: I created a new section in the forum where we will post later beta versions of the nand writter
By the way today 11/30/05 Yoshi bricked another psp messing with the nand. As I said earlier, if no one tests, the project will most likely stop...

so my suggestion dont do it until its in the final release

I don't get the whole customized firmware thing. How would we make our own firmware?

fw 1.0 doesnt need files signed by sony so we can make our own fw that would have all the features that 2.6 have and more but still be able to play homwbrew

awww damn, i was getting all excited thinking that they ACTUALLY released a FINAL version of the downgrader

SonyXTeam, you want to start spiting lies to the world about our site, then it's time to eat some of your own sh*t.

First off, there have been MANY successful downgrades to 1.0 PSPs through the flasher. As usual, SXT and Yoshihiro continue their shady business, using other sites, gathering test results, trying to get all the credit, then slamming them and calling them scammers.

No wonder MPH always hated them, I think VERY low of them now too.

We had full permission to post the news. They had told us that once the results of the flasher were in, and if we found a way to get it to work, we could post the news ASAP.

Is that not exactly what we did? Along with bricking tons of PSP3Ds staff member PSPs (including the my own) and a bunch of loyal PSP3D members, they then take ALL credit away from us once they realized the issue about 1.5 "virginity" that they goofed up on (the term 1.5 'virgin' was coined by PSP3D btw, SXT had no clue about it until we tested it), and claim that find as their own. PSP3D was the one that found the problem, that diagnosed how to fix it, and risked and destroyed their own PSPs (on video) for the sake of the firmware flasher. I believe SXT deserve goto hell for screwing sites over like with the BS they post on their site (even though the actual firmware flasher they made is good work, they need to learn their manners, and stop screwing other teams over, like they have in the past, with the BS they post on their own site).

On another note, we NEVER claimed we made this file. We gave 100% credit to you guys for making the flasher, so what the hell is up with us 'not giving you guys credit and stealing your copyright'? The reason why we added our own site to the team for working on it is BECAUSE WE found out on what PSPs the downgrade works on, why it doesn't work, and WE tested it many, many times for YOU. I think that deserves some credit now, doesn't it SXT? I bricked my PSP for YOUR hack, and here is what I get from you. TOTAL DISRESPECT.

For those complaining about bricking their PSP, there is over 20 pages of the thread with insight on the results of the firmware flasher, and PSP3D stated multiple, MULTIPLE times what your PSP needs to be in order for you not to get bricked. Think of it this way for a second, PSP3D always gets flamed for not releasing all their steps to the making the submitted hacks, which pisses people off, and I have seen people go to the extent of begging them for the files even if it bricks their PSP.

Now it's quite the opposite. People are complaining about HAVING access to the files. Jesus Christ, make up your minds!

As for the ones responsible, well NO ONE IS flippin' RESPONSIBLE. Both of our sites had disclaimers saying they take no liability for damage, so anyone who bricked their PSP was THEIR OWN FREAKIN CHOICE, AND NO ONE ELSES.

Next off, there are over 50 people who have SUCCESSFULLY downgraded to 1.0 from a 'virgin' PSP, so SXT is just BSing on their homepage because they feel like stabbing PSP3D in the back, taking all the useful info that PSP3D collected, and using it further improve their own programs. They used us as a guinea pig, and are now throwing us in a ditch.

Learn to grow up SXT. You may have half-ass coding abilities, but I can assure your donkey your not going to get anywhere by posting complete sh*t on your site. The flasher was not leaked. You GAVE US it. We tested it. And we had permission to POST it if it worked (even if it worked only under certain circumstances). On top of that, why couldn't you send us a simple email or IM on MSN about us removing the post, and we would have removed it. But NO, you drama queens feel like starting something, just to get the blood rushing, and to make your own site feel 'hardcore'.

i dunno im starting to think that SXT is a really legit psp dev team and everyone else is just mad that they actually make stuff

well this thing sounds really great but well some people dont want to possibly break something that costs $250

thats why you let the other people do it until it works lol
