I've been listening a bunch to Straylight Run recently, they're sort of alternative too.

i listen to rap, linkin park, hip-hop. my fav artists r eminem, lil john, g-unit, and some others

Helloween, Gamma Ray, Manowar, Over Kill, Maiden, and this sort of music is usually on my playlist.
I also loved Avantasia the way they told the story along with all the good voices of power genre.

Straylight Run and Bright Eyes i forgot to add to my list but they are good stuff.

Details? It was in downtown Oklahoma City and our band name is Missing Reality. There were some other bands that went after us.
