Griffin Technology, the well known and prolific iPod accessory maker, has announced today that it will extend its iTrip, iFM, and SmartShare products to the Sony PSP.

"The PSP's popularity continues to grow and break new ground for fans of gaming, movies, and music," said Paul Griffin, CEO of Griffin Technology. "Griffin's goal is to make accessories that are as high end as the system itself. We want to genuinely enhance the playing, viewing, and listening experience for the enthusiasts of the system."

Like Griffin's best known iPod accessory, the iTrip FM transmitter for the PSP will allow users to enjoy PSP audio through their car or home stereo's speakers. As memory sticks and alternate storage solutions like Datel's 4GB hard drive become cheaper and more and more content becomes available in properly compressed formats, the PSP is really growing into its role as a powerful portable media player. While the PSP's screen is large enough to be seen moderately well from a back-seat, the internal speakers really don't have the oomph to fill a car. For road-tripping peeps that like to be generous with their media, the iTrip will do a lot to improve the PSP experience. Suggested retail price will be $49.99.

As its name suggests, the iFM will allow the PSP to receive FM radio. Channel selection doesn't appear on the PSP's screen, but the iFM dongle includes a bright LED screen. Integrated remote controls allow for easy manipulation of media playback. SRP will be $49.99.

If you're the type that likes to get cozy with a significant other while enjoying PSP media in a public place, the SmartShare headphone splitter is just what you've been waiting for. Not only does it look slick enough to go well with the PSP, the SmartShare boasts independent volume controls for each of its two outputs. That's a good idea, cause it's never smart to annoy your bosom buddies with too much volume, especially when you're crowded around a little PSP screen. SRP is set at $14.99.

I do like the accessories. Nice find!!

But I rather use an iPod or other type of MP3 portable player than using my PSP for music playback. Memory cards are so expensive for PSP, waste of space to put music in them when you really want to do is play games and ISO's.

Just my .02 cents.
