I just thought I could keep you up to date on the new firmware but Sony's next firmware update for the PSP has owners in quite a troth. Theyve already unveiled a web browser, that's actually better than most PDA web browsers. Now there are rumors about surrounding the release of PIM (personal information management), email, note taking, drawing and other applications. Of course Sony hasn't released anything official yet, but they've shown a great interest in expanding the feature set of the PSP.
Oh and here are some rumors going around of what new applications will be in the new 3.0 firmware PSP's :
*Apps in Red are very manufactured and high entertaining for most viewers,
# Sony Mail - email client
# Sony Organizer - collection of PIM applications that handle calendar information at least
# Alarm Clock - multi-alarm clock
# Writepad - note taking application
# Sony Paint - drawing program presumably using the analog stick
# Sony Music Store - connection to the Sony music store for downloading and storing music on Memory Stick media
# PS3 HD - supposed connection to the Sony PS3 hard drive (though since the PS3 is yet to be released this feature is not a likely release at this time)
# Security - enhanced protection for the web browser and other internet connected applications
Timing for the release is not yet known. Just thought I could keep you

Sony seems to have answered every need of a PSPian except the 2nd most important - Homebrew!
If youre wondering what the first most important thing is... its an ISO Loader LOL

If only they put some resources into getting a few decent games for this thing. It's pretty sad that most of us would rather have the ability to play 8-Bit NES games from 1986 than give that up to play a UMD that requires a firmware upgrade.

yeah, it dosen't matter because no one will upgrade, what they should do is make it so that homebrew can be launched and just pretend they don't know about it. If they get reports of it then they should just blow them off because according to them...THEY DON'T MAKE MISTAKES...then sony would be a hero again!

Oooh not true. Honestly, there was no reasont o upgrade to 2.6, it is exactly the same as 2.0 almost except you get to watch tv on your psp (big whoop, I have a 3000 dollar mini tv where I can go on the net and watch tv, and a psp is more cheaper, seriously, and its free?) and 3.0, people will be raging to get it! Do you have any idea how many people are going to get it?
Japan Conferances are saying that too many japaneese kids who have 3.0 (I dont understand if its out or not but they are saying japaneese kids have 3.0) anyways, Japaneese kids are loosing sleep and playing more 3.0 then playing outside with friends.
Believe me, with soo much more on 3.0, people will upgrade. And with more of sony security, it will get tougher and tougher to hack everytime they bring out a new firmware. And more people will get mroe interested.
3.0 is going to be a big hit mostly because of the programs it has.

Yes but there are tons of people who have already upgraded and been tricked into Sony's spell. Also, I think Sony would go at high risks to get homebrew on the PSP, which means if they are in big trouble like our psp hackers figure out a way to hack any type of firmware they produce, then yea, they probably would go at a risk to put homebrew in their firmware.
