i did something really stupid... i updated to version 2.8 because i was going on a really long trip and wanted to play my games and get the demos off the sony site. do you think there will ever be a downgrader for 2.8? i will either wait until the downgrader comes out or until the mod chip drops in price(i am not paying 100 dollers for one!)

For every single firmware, there is always an exploit to be found, because sony can not fully have security over all areas of the firmware, which is why they have covered many things so the exploit can't get in it, but only one spot has been left open.
People are apparrently working on a TIFF exploit found once again in 2.7-2.71, who knows what lies in 2.80.
So just to make it clear, there will always be a downgrader.
But hold up,
I have a question:
On firmware 2.8, is it true that they have text files on it? If it is, what does it say? Does it say:
"DONT BE STUPID AND UPDATE!"
or does it say:
"You updated! Good boy............."

HOLD UP! Rather than wait, there is one option left!
The mod chip is WORTH IT to buy it at that price. Believe me, its reallly worth it.
If you look now, my good pal PSMonkey (or penguin) is working on some GNU coding enabling more 3d structures.
Plus you should look at strrmmnms site on his daedalus nintendo 64 emulator!

I strongly suggest you get the mod chip. Because what ever new firmware there is, it will always be able to swithc between it to 1.5 or below...

i have no idea where or how i can find a place that sells mod chips in my city and i am guessing it will be around 150 dollers canadian which is bad for me

im working on 2.8
its not really a hack
its a back door for the psp update file
that allows me to edit it and not kill the signiture
i know this works, its just coming about redirecting the psp to either another pbp file, or something else


to be clear, this isnt a nooby "replace the sfo file"

The update file can be edited, but will hardly change anything.
I highly doubt this will work but you can give it a shot.

yes, a lot of ppl are like
"i can open pbp unpacker, and edit the sfo"
but that kills the signiture
all mine does it edit the file without killing the signiture

but when i open it, the file looks like it would on notepad
so it may be a while
