just need a little computer help

ok i cant say why but i need to remove my anti virus witch is Norton... i have been able to delet evry extension of it like the firewall and sum othere systematic corporation stuff... but when i try to remove the actual Norton folder (ive tried add remove program and just deleting the folder in the programfiles, and if tried uninstalling it) it wont come out... anything else i could try?

does it say an app in it is in use? If so, go to start>run>msconfig> serverices>check HIDE ALL MS SERVICES> uncheck any symantic or norton ones>startup tab> uncheck anything with symantic or norton etc> restart> try deleting it again

also taskmanger is easier jus harder to see what processes are norton ones cuz they have wierd names.

At www.norton.com in the help section do a search for uninstall norton.. they offer an exe to download that will uninstall everything about Norton.

ok when i try deleting the folder it comes up with a "file 0232NAV~.TMP is being used by another person or program, could not delet file"

ohh crap dble posted.. srry now my comp isnt letting me open folders 1 by one...

Maybe you should reboot in safe mode and then try deleting it.....

exactaly what i just did... it worked... but now i need a good anti virus that dont requrie weekly payments/updates

you can get from www.grisoft.com... Make sure you get the home version which is the free one...

if you have windows what dont you do this?
click on start, then click on control panel, then add or remove programs,search for Symatec/Norton antivirus, and click remove.

antivir is i thnk better than avg, not to mention its was rated 1st place for best FREE antivirus out of avg(2nd) and avast(3rd) by either maximum pc or pcworld, cant remember read it at wal mart

vector, i tried that and it didnt work... i went in as admin in safe mode, got rid of it like that, and tnx 4 the link Jazmania ill try it out\


link did not wor "Page could not be diplayed" messege any one else have a link to a FREE anti virus?
