I just recently started tampering with my little brother's PSP so I'm trying to set it up with the best stuff out there. I have firmware v1.5, but I wanted to know what is next best step?
-I don't think it is but I want to be sure; is upgrading to Dark_Alex's 3.03 OE-A Custom Firmware, upgrading my PSP's v1.5 firmware?
-And what main benefits are there to Dark_Alex's firmware?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

yes it does update your 1.5, as the name goes it is a custom firmware, it is a combination of 1.5 and 3.03. You get all the features of 3.03 and also get the 1.5 kernal access so you can play all homebrew.

The major benefits of 3.03 OE-B are that you can emulate 3.03, play psx games and play isos off the xmb. There is also a useful thing called recovery mode on your psp which you can go to by powering on your psp and holding the r button.

I dont know how you should get to this firmware because there have been a whole lot of updates for OE. the path i took was: 1.5>3.02 OE-A>3.02 OE-B>
3.03 OE-A> then to 3.03 OE-B. You should check with someone else on how to get there.

Hope this helps

Okay, that's a great start, Thanks for your help.

Does anyone know if there's a firmware upgrade from 1.5 to 3.03 B?

You have to upgrade to 3.03 OE-A first, and then copy some files onto your memory stick to make it 3.03 OE-B. Download both and follow the directions in the readme's and you should be all set.

Also, if you're looking for homebrew suggestions, I'd recommend IRShell, Daedalus N64 emulator R8, the newest SNES emulator/NES emulator, Attack of the Mutants, PSPRevolution, and Bomberman Arena. Definitely missing a few, but those should be a good start.

Use an auto installer to upgrade to 3.03 OE-A then update to OE-B.

Yeah I have most of those programs on there already, but I noticed Daedalus doesn't run that smoothly. Is it just because I don't have the 3.03 OE-B firmware or is PSP just not able to handle Daedalus? I've tried several different games just to check it out, and most run but not well. Either the graphics are choppy, have artifacts, or overall it just doesn't run very well.

...And how come when I hide my corrupts, it says "Game Could Not Be Run" or a similar error message? But when I don't hide the corrupts, it works just fine.

And thanks again Supashay91, Sepheroth, and FireFoxx.

Daedalus is still taking baby-steps in speed emulation, no games run smoothly on it.

Abbout your corrupt icons delima, I would suggest changing the Kernal to 1.5

Changing the kernal? How would I go about that?

Turn on the PSP while going into recovery mode (Holding R) then go to configuration and toggle the 3.03 Kernal to 1.5

Lol, well that's probably why I didn't understand changing the kernal. I haven't updated my firmware yet. I'm still at 1.5. I've been waiting to see the best way to update my firmware.

Download this http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/999 (I used this on my psp so no worries it's safe). Run the program check both install to game and make recovery. Turn on your psp and plug in USB. Than hit install on program and wait for it all to be put onto your psp. After done goto the memory stick under the game menu and run 3.03 oe-a flasher.

Man thanks D3ViLsAdvocate, you really summed it up and sounds like a pretty simple installation. By the way, that's an awesome picture of some nintendo lingerie, my kind of girl. :D
