Hello Friends, I am from Melbourne (Aus) and want to buy a new PSP and was wondering which firmware to go for. I want safe to crack firmware but still want to do a lot with it.

1. Looked around and looks like the older version 1.5 is really easy to hack(?) to use homebrew etc.
But what about all the new games etc which don't play until you upgrade to the newer versions? Is there a work around that?

Also 1.5 is hard to find and if you can its more expensive ( A few new ones on ebay etc - extra $30-$40 above)

2. Also what about all the post version 2.0 goodies like browser etc. Can you still use these utilities even if you dont upgrade?

3. What version is really good for emulators etc? I am sure you can rip your existing PS1 games to play on PSP but what about PS2 titles? Is it possible? Is region code a problem?

4.Is it possible to download PSP titles using Bittorrent etc and how can you scan the viruses(or is it virii)?

5 Is it hard finding titles using such methods? (Most downloads not working, too many viruses etc). Please PM me some websites I can visit to get more info regd this.

I will be really thankful to anyone who can help me with this. I tried my best to look around and if any of these issues have been already addressed please forgive me and just give me the URL's to such. I hope I have been clear enough with my queries! If there are things that cannot be put onto forums please feel free to email me on secretrmitATyahoodotcom.

(I am 25 and feel like a 7 yr old waiting on christmas eve. :-) Better run now - Boss is coming!!! Cheers guys

I answered this thread already. Please don't post two of the same thread in different sections of the forum (tsk tsk tsk).
