PSP background?

So, if you put a 01-12.bmp file into your vsh/resource file, it comes up on the PSP as the main background. I found a background image that I want that I would still be able to use waves with, so I resized the image and replaced it with the one I made. It works, but the background isn't smooth at all. The pixels are all resized and when they're blown up on the background they are just terrible quality. Are there any kind of resizers I could use besides PhotoShop to make the image I want smaller that wouldn't distort the image quality?

Photoshop would be a good choice but you say besides photoshop... so I'm not sure. There are lots of 3rd party programs for photo editing though. I think someone else here can give you a more distinct answer, but what I can tell you is not to use microsoft paint for resizing. That program is miserable for that.

Heh, yeah. The quality is fine, and even when I resize it to 60x34 it's fine in the thumbnail, but when it's blown back up again it looks terrible. I just need something that would make the picture keep it's shape when I make it small and big again.

Well all pictures will distort somewhat when you change resolutions or fullscreen a low resolution image. The key is to just not have too many sharp lines in the picture you use. Also, what many people have done is make an image that is larger than what will be allowed to make a 1-12.bmp file and then when they shrink it from a noticeably larger size, the quality is very very nice - which makes it look just fine when it is finally flashed to the psp.

I'll try making a different size for it really quick to see if that would work.
[EDIT] It worked perfectly! Great quality too. Thank you.

Just make it 480x272, though it will only show that one background at full res.
