It's definitely addictive. I like being able to make the PSP do things it wasn't originally intended for. I have a music workstation program on it and as a musician it's cool to be able to mess with it on the go. That and I'm a Castlevania nut and want to be able to play all the Castlevania games on one system. I'm waiting for the N64 emus to get better and then I'll be in heaven! 8)

Because it makes life so much easier :) Well I wouldn't go that far. But t does make the psp cooler, and more convient to use. Who wouldn't want a system that plays several different console games? Plus that and doing this that weren't meant to be done to it. I mean why can't Sony allow you to change the xmb icons?? Whyyy? It wouldn't hurt. Sometimes I think Monkeys are running all the big companies. They always make good consoles but there is no customization or useful apps on it. O well. Dagum monkeys.

For me I just customize the look of mine because sony's stuff is too plain and boring. I like to be able to customize things the way i like it rather than let someone (in a way) dictate what i should use. That and i like to be different, dont want to have my psp look the same as the guy next to me.

I like the psp for more reasons that I can list right now.

The main reason I like it is because it is so multi-functional that it kills me. I'm amazed by all of the things it can do, and will do in the future. I think it has some 20+ emulators and for being out for roughly 2 years, having most of the emulators running 90% and better is just amazing. Having all of my old classics in portable form is just some of the most satisfying entertainment that any game system has ever offered me, and having it portable gives it so much more credit.

I also like that, given you know a coding language and know how to compile it etc., anyone can create their own homebrew game. The psp is the first commercial gaming device in which homebrew has actually CAUGHT ON. There have been emulators on many systems, including the Dreamcast and most notoriously for the PC, but having a portable platform in which anyone can create their own game for is an incredible bonus that I wish Sony would just allow, but I understand where they are coming from. All in all, even though games are created for the PC by independent coders, the psp has caught on EXTREMELY well in terms of homebrew and most homebrew has offered us benefits that Sony's various firmware additions have left out.

and for many more reasons as well

Yea, i think the absolute best though, is that it is alll portable. Instead of having to sit infront of the tv, i could be out at the local white water rapids park thingy watchign people go kayaking and play my psp at the same time 8)

Yeah but what that does have to do with the modding part of it?

Also, wifi multiplayer eliminates both wires and also split screens. The DS is capable of this as well (and the SP but that wireless thing sucked) but the focal point of the psp is obviously the screen that it boasts. It doesn't ghost at all and displays much better graphics than the DS can. With all of the added features, even at stock, the psp was very lovable from the get-go.

Another huge thing is the IR sender/receiver. Now... I'll be the first to admit that I'm not sure what Sony was thinking of using it for, but having it has opened up the availability of using the psp as a universal remote control for everything from televisions to projectors and even Furby (Furbies idk). Wireless remotes for just ONE specific line of TV's at retail can cost hundreds of dollars for a screen + buttons etc. That only makes the psp more appealing because it can control much more than one line of TV's, more than one specific brand, and more than 1 specific device. I'm sure the psp can control some 3000+ IR devices - all for free if you have homebrew capability (and you should b/c of the Illuminati).

...and of course, for more reasons as well
