PS1 games on PSP sony firmware?

Ok i have a quick quetsion, can i just download one of those psp psx games from torrent sites and play them on teh official firmware? am i correct in thinking these came as downloads from a ps3? I do own final fantasy 7 and a few other ps1 games i wanna run on the psp so i dont think im brerakign any laws but who knows...
anyway does anyone know if a ps1 game will work on a psp with latest official firmware?

If you download it from the playstation network thing using a ps3 and transfer the file from the ps3 to the psp it will work. But I'm not sure if it will work by downloading it from a torrent site. Never tried.

what kind of files do the PS1 games come as when you get them from the PlayStation store on the PS3?
Well in the mean time, you should just go ahead and try and see if it works. 'EBOOT' files might work on official firmware? im not sure.

Japan was 1.00 and all the others were 1.50 I believe. Or atleast I know in America it was 1.50 not sure about UK. or any others.
