i'm from the Philippines and i am planning to buy a PSP2000 from japan (25% less cheaper). but my friend from japan told me i'll be having a problem downloading games here in the philippines..

can anyone help me regarding this, will it really be a problem? or my japanese friend just dont know it.

I dont see why you would have any problems.
are you downloading from wifi or from your computer?

i dont have the PSP yet, but im planning to download it from PC. he said the version is 3.90
so there aint gonna be any problem with it.

All the PSP's are pretty much the same. Japanese psp's won't display the Skype icon on 3.90 firmware, so you need a modified vshmain.prx on your psp to show it.

I have 2 psps, a fat and slim, both of which are Japanese... never had a problem with either of them.
