Is there any way known to fix dead pixels other than screen replacement?
also how can one distinguish a "fake" memory stick?

I don't know about the "fake" memory stick question, but if the pixel is dead, then no...
If it is stuck, then use the pixer fixer.

Dead can never get fixed.
Stuck is stuck, it just needs a jolt before it fixes itself.
Sometimes it's other colors besides black. Rarely is it ever colored black.
