Sorry for the noob question but what is a XMB? And what is the thing with themes with 3.52 M33-4? I am three days old with that firmware hack.

XMB is the Xross Media Bar. Basically just the main menu of the psp where you select your music and UMD movies/games.
You can add custom themes to your psp to have custom icons and backgrounds in the XMB.
