Upgrading Help from 3.71 M33-2

Hi.

First off I have spent the last few evenings during my downtime reading throughout the forums and have learned a lot about homebrew. Thanks for all the great info.
Now for my question. I friend of a friend installed homebrew on my "PHAT" PSP for me as a gift for doing some Mac work for him.
The guy installed 3.71 M33-2 and also passed on some games. After trying several tutorials to install the SNES files given to me, none work. I have tried different versions
and tried adding them to GAME, GAME150, etc. No luck. Even tried installing the 1.5 Update file and no luck.

SO is it possible to upgrade from my current CFW to the 3.90 (or whatever is most current) and then install the 1.5 Update? Or would the new CFW have 1.5 support included?
I was gifted a bunch of ROMs and wouldnt mind being able to play them. Is there anything special I need to do as I don't want to brick my PSP or can I just add the update file to
my memory stick like installing an update to any firmware?

Im sure I am answering my own question but I would hate to install an update to find out my PSP turns into a brick. I would ask my friends friend to do this but I want to learn
and just checking since many people on this board seem to be extremely knowledgeable when it comes to this platform!

Thanks and I appreciate any hints/tips

Dave

The 2nd link you gave me passes me to the Official 3.90 Update. Do I need to update to that official one and then install the newest version from Dark Alex? Im confused now.
Does the Sony 3.90 Update overwrite the CFW? I basically just want to find the best way to add SNES emu and if this is easier by updating to 3.90 I will but thought I would ask first before doing anything.

Its better to be at the highest current CFW, as it also adds More ISO support and Better PSX Emulation. The updater patches 3.90 as it installs.

You need the OFW EBOOT to go to 3.90M33-3.

Open up the Updater, and put the folder named UPDATE in GAME,
Rename the OFW eboot from EBOOT.PBP to 390.PBP, and drop it in the updater folder.

Run the updater.

Awesome!
Need to charge my battery first.
Im going from 3.71 > 3.90-3
This makes sense now! Thank you!
One last thing. Do I need to install the 1.5 add on kernel to run SNES or is it preloaded with the 3.90 CFW update?

THanks again for helping so quickly!
