UMD won't play, old saved games don't work under 3.90M33-3

I upgraded my fat PSP 1.50 to 3.40oe-a about a year ago, and then recently bought FF VII Crisis Core. After playing for a while, I thought I should see if there was a better cfw available . . . and long story short, I upgraded to 3.52m33-4, then 3.71, and then up to 3.90M33-3.

The upgrades all seemed to work properly, and my PSP identifies the firmware as 3.90M33-3. I have two problems, though.

The first is that my old saved games for Crisis Core no longer work; anytime I try to start them up, the PSP tells me that the data is corrupted. On another forum I read that there was something about saves in 3.40oe-a, and I could possibly get around this using Time Machine to run 3.40oe-a, and just play from the old saves under that. Anyone have any other suggestions, or should I order a pandora's battery? (FWIW - I tried re-formatting the card (still said old saves were corrupt); and I started a new game under 3.90, and the 2 saves I did in that game work fine, so I doubt its the card itself).

The second problem is that, while all of my other UMD games work, for some reason my Sega Genesis Collection UMD will not run at all. When I try to play it, I get this error message: "The game cannot be started - the data is corrupted" I can understand files on my MS being corrupted (my original SONY 32 MB MS lost a bunch of data over a month ago), but I've never heard of a UMD being corrupted.

Thanks in advance for any help!

What is the error code for the umd?

And what fw is required to play crisis core?

It doesn't show an error code for either message, or perhaps I'm just not looking in the right place for it? Crisis Core comes with an upgrade to OFW 3.73, but I was playing it with no issues on 3.40oe-a.

What I'd recommend doing is looking at the both Savedatas in the PSP.
See if they're similar in any way.
Maybe that'd help.

So when you try to run the UMD, it just says the message, no error code? Thats weird. I don't think I've heard of saves not working on different firmwares either.

Yumiko: Thanks for that suggestion. I'll try it and let you know what happens.

AdventWolf: Yep, no error code. The screen turns blue and the message: "This game cannot be started. The data is corrupted." pops up. It also can't access the information screen for the UMD.

The place I read about saves from 3.40oe-a not working on 3.90m33 is here http://tinyurl.com/6xk846, specifically posts 124 and 127. That's the only place I've found that mentions the problem.
