Problem downgrading PSP 2.71 non TA-082

Trying to downgrade PSP 2.71 non TA-082. I downloaded the downgrader for 2.71, but when I get to the part where it says go to the photo icon, the screen does not turn red. Instead it freezes and powers off. Any ideas? Also is there a manual way to do it? Thanks
