Hey guys, got a psp second hand last week, an lookin to start using homebrew stuff.

Just seen so much stuff online and iv got a bit lost and was hoping someone could help me, its just i cant find anything for total PSP Noobs lol.

its on version 2.81. came with Vice City Stories which has that update on it so im not sure what the original shippig version was on it...

Tell me if this is right so far. I have to update the psp to version 3.03, in order to use a downgrader which will allow me to use version 1.5. Once 1.5 is on it, i can then install a custom version which will fool the psp into thinking its 3.03 but will still allow me to play an use homebrew ???

And devhooks??? lost...

can anyone run me through this and i will owe u big time!!

Ok, so the GTA UMD has the 2.00 update on it?

if so then update to 3.03 and use the explot to downgrade to 1.50, then you can update to a Dark_AleX Custom Firmware that will allow the use of homebrew and other goodies.

so now i gotta get my hands on an unpatched GTA LCS to downgrade to 1.5?

and then i can install 3.03c the same way i upgraded to 3.03 ???

yes, you need an unpatched GTA (eBay?)

then you can update to 3.40 OE-A, but the installation process is slightly different from the Sony ones.

why is everyone want 3.40 oe? wast wrong with 3.03 oe-c?

3.40 OE-A is cool, it has more PSX compatability, and can do anything 3.03 OE-C can do.

whats peoples ratings on it? I might try it out, but don't want to rush because I just wanna find
out if there are any malicious things about it.

Ajay, I wouldnt reccomend looking on ebay for an unpatched GTA LCS they tend to be far overpriced. You can purchase a second hand copy in stores for approximately $15-$20. Or you can rent a copy from your local video shop.

copyright 2005 = unpatched
copyright 2006 = patched
Just make sure to double check on your game update that it says 2.00

3.40 or 3.03?

Use 3.03 oe-c for now. However, in the future if you find yourself doing a lot of PS1 emulation and have a game that glitches or something etc. then I'd change to 3.40 oe-a. 3.03 oe-c is good because you can customize it easier in flash0 and also because it plays most ps1 games just fine - though 3.40 is better for ps1 emulation. It comes down to what you want to get out of your psp when it's all said and done.
