Trouble installing 3.03 update

Not the custom firmware, but the regular Sony firmware. I'm running v.2.82 on a non TA PSP and I've been placing 1EBOOT.PBP in PSP/GAME/UPDATE, disconnecting and trying to boot it up from the Mem.stick under the Game menu, and it keeps coming up as corrupted data. Do I need to have Flash enabled to be able to do this?

Thanks in advance!

I tried two different 3.03 files, one which I renamed UPDATE.PHP and another that I left as it was. Unfortunately, neither of them worked. :?

Yep, that's the one I put in as it was. I'm going to enable the Flash option and see if that changes anything, and if not, I don't know what else I can do. :(

Mmmm...dude..It aint a php extension. PHP is a web coding language, PBP is the extansion on psp files. You supposed to have it in the UPDATE folder (folder has to be all capitals) and then put the file titled exactly EBOOT.PBP. Has to be in UPDATE folder named EBOOT.PBP. GOt that strait from the sony site.

You are right Ace. I mistyped, they ARE PBPs. At any rate, I've gotten to a coffeeshop and am downloading the file straight onto the PSP, so hopefully it should work. I'm wondering if the corruption had something to do with the interfacing between my computer and the PSP. Hopefully this won't make it a problem to downgrade and all that. :?

EDIT: It's STILL coming up as corrupt!

Thats weird O.o Try restoring to default settings on the psp, reformatting the mem card and all that. And make sure your using several different EBOOT's. What ver. is the fw now?

Got it figured out. The 3.03 files I was downloading were crap, thus causing the problem. DPC pointed me to the 3.03 download at PSP-Hacks.com and everything got sorted out. Apparently there are a lot of bad firmware files out there. :?
