First off I apologize about that half a$$ topic i put in last time I was in a rush. I've been reading about this custom firmware upgrades that ya'll been talking about I just wondering what is it, is it worth getting, and if it is worth it what firmware should I get. I do have a 1.5 firmware (note: I'm very new to all this sorry for the elementary questions just trying to learn) thanxs

What is it? --- Custom firmware is a "joint firmware" which allows psp users to be able to play the newest games on the market via UMD or ISO, and still be able to retain the ability to run hacked, or "homebrew application" such as emultors, calculators, and other various tools. It does this by combining certain subsets from both version 1.50 and the higher version you are upgrading to, ultimately, creating a firmware capable of much more than normal Sony firmware(s).

Is it worth getting? --- I'd say definitely. If your psp is capable of being downgraded to version 1.50 so that the installation of custom firmware is possible, I'd highly recommend it. Since you have version 1.50, that's even better. I won't go into all of the benefits right now, but trust me, there are plenty of reasons for why custom firmware is better than any other type of firmware.

What custom firmware should you get? --- I'd suggest custom firmware 3.03 oe-c. The only time I'd recommend another custom firmware is if you plan on doing some hardcore Playstation 1 emulation on the PSP. If that's the case, I'd suggest 3.40 oe-a because the built-in Playstation 1 emulator in Sony's original 3.40 has higher compatibility with games and includes quite a few bug fixes. It really depends on what you want to use the psp for.
