So, heres my question, not sure if it has been answered or not due to well my internet is so slow I don't feel like waiting ten years on search...
Brand spankin new right out the box from Walmart, is a PSP 1.5? Reason I ask, is because when I obtained my psp, it was already 2. something. Im looking to get ahold of a 1.5 version so I can get all my old roms for plane trips and what not.
Question stated, *puts on flame suit* let the war begin!

well no.. not anymore anyway..
but most of the psp's you can get from walmart can be downgraded..
most of them come with firmware 2.71
but some dont..
if your going ot walmart you bassically have to try your luck.
Unless you google up on the letters on the box.

Then whats my best option in getting ahold of either a 1.5 or a downgradable psp? I'd really like to get my hands on one, ever since I've found this place knowing I could play my old school RPGS, FF and what not on the psp, just awesome for passing time on lay-overs and what not.
Thanks for the reply!

Well you don't have to get a new psp all you have to do is downgrade ur 2.xx psp to 1.5 then up to 3.03 OE-C.

Or he could upgrade to 3.10OE-A', or 3.40OE-A. Whats so special about 3.03OE-C anyways? Other then the fact its easier xmb customization. I mean I have even seen ISO's that work on 3.40OE-A but not on 3.03OE-C(Bleach 4 for example). But yea, unless your current psp is higher then 3.03, you can downgrade it to 1.5 then upgrade to any custom firmware to be able to use emulators.
O and is it just me or are a lot of help threads now being posted in the "General Chat" section instead of the "Help" section?

Okie dokie then. As I was saying my reasoning why 5.50OE-E will be the best custom firmware ever....

My friend bought a psp the other day and got firmware 2.60 loaded on it - no prob. But we live in a small town and shopped at a small store, so I wouldn't recommend buying one from Walmart if you are looking for a homebrewable/ downgradeable firmware. It may be safe for now, but it's getting close to that time when you won't be seeing those psps anymore.
Ask for the one at the back of the shelf like we did.
