SPECIAL CASE--for experts on psp::::dont want to brick it!!!

Hey guys im new to thsi forum but I've got an issue with my psp
Intro:
I bought a psp v1.5 from ebay and then upgraded to version 3.40 OE-A so I could play psp homebrew games on it. I also put a new theme on it, to be precise it was theme cycler_v0_1 off this site. I just put that on my game folder in memry stick and it automatically changed my theme when i ran it.
Problem:
I figured out that my wifi doesn't work on the psp becaue I keep getting teh mesaage internal error andthat number. Some ppl say its an internal device error, and for some people they got this because they have custome firmware (like me). Therfore I need to downgrade back to 1.5 but there isnt enough flash memory on my psp to do teh recovery, and I am too scared to delete the theme cycler because maybe after there wont be a theme at all and ill brick teh psp.
Solution/problem/question:
How do I get rid of the theme and pu t it back to normal without bricking teh psp? how do I dowgrdae to 1.5? Will I be able to put the theme back on after?
thxn any ideas are appreciated

When you say flash memory what are you referring to? The memory card or the flash in the psp?(flash0) Because You have enough space in flash0 to downgrade. And you should also have enough space on your memory card unless you have more on it other then the theme cycler program. When you downgrade itll change to default xmb. I suggest you just downgrade to 1.5, test the wifi and if it works then upgrade to a different custom firmware. If it doesn't work then...something is wrong with your psp. I also suggest before you downgrade to delete that piece of crap theme cycler program. That thing bricked my psp :( . Once you downgrade to 1.5, you could change the xmb, but I highly suggest you DON'T because of the chances of bricking your psp. Just download that program, plug up your psp, run the exe, then shutoff your psp and start into recovery mode, run the program using the thing that says like "Run program at dir:\blahblah\blahblah\boot.pbp" or something like that. Then youll be at 1.5 and you can test wifi. If it works then upgrade to a different custom firmware (ie. 3.03OE-C)

Wow that was like a really really long post....here is the file if you want to try wifi on 1.5
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/460892 - 1.50 recovery winstaller

O and post this in the help section next time.

Why would having a custom firmware (such as myself) make your wifi not work?
the thing is EVERY psp ive ever seen, the wifi goes out on it for like a month (after upgrading to a cf) then itll work again after a while.

WEll, I just go from what i saw people say on teh forum, some guy had a 3.4 OE-A and his wifi didn't work, so he downgraded back to 1.5 and then upgraded back to 3.03 OE and it worked for him..I really don't know...From what I've read on forums many people seem to have this wifi problem and it's for many different reasons.

Anyways, back to ace_012
"When you say flash memory what are you referring to? The memory card or the flash in the psp?(flash0) Because You have enough space in flash0 to downgrade. And you should also have enough space on your memory card unless you have more on it other then the theme cycler program."
Well the theme cycler was on the meory card but what I think taht program does is that it automatically, evrytime u run it, goes into recovery mode and changes the xmb files by itself, because once I deleted the theme cycler from my psp (my memory stick) I still have the customized theme on my psp. This can only mean that the theme (XMB files) are on the flash memory. I'm not mad because the theme is really cool and i'd rather have it than the original one.
BUt heres where problem number 2 comes. I have an easy installer that is usppose to dowgrade ur psp to 1.5 but it wont work and it keep saying that it can't create the recovery file, meaning that there isn't enoygh flash memory to do it.

Yea I know what theme cycler does, it just flashes random themes to your xmb. The "theme" is located in flash0 which is the flash memory in the psp itself where all the important files are. Now that you flashed it you really can't go back to the original xmb unless you made a backup/downgrade to 1.5. Just use the thing I put a link up to and follow its directions. Then boot into recovery mode and run it. And it saves those files to the memory card, so you should have enough space.

petah...first things first, whoever told you that you dont have enough flash0 memory to run the recovery is full of $h*T because the recovery just overwrites everything on your flash0 so that your back at 1.50. You could be left with 0 flash0 space and still be able to run recovery....Anyways, go to This link and download the 1.50 recovery winstaller. All you have to do is plug your psp into the computer follow the instructions on the program and it will install everything for you on your memory stick. Once it has completed its tasks, turn off your psp then turn it back on and hold the r trigger. This will bring you to the recovery menu...navigate to run program at blah blah blah (it will be the third option from the top) read the warnings on the screen, agree, then wait till it asks you to restart your psp. Now that your back at 1.50, you can either stay there or you can use the winstaller to get to 3.03 oe-c if you like (its in the same link i provided for the recovery) Everything will be the original files once you have completed recovery. Just remember to back up your stuff to your computer from your memory stick before carrying out these tasks otherwise they will end up getting corrupted.

Ya it formats your flash memory before it plops the files on there.

ok so I want to run the easy winstaller but it woon't let me. I have my usb connected and then i run the easy winstaller from my desktop and it says choose the drive. Doesn't matter which one I choose, if I choose F G H or I, it always shows thsi message "Exception processing Message c0000013 Parameters 75b6bf9c 4 75b6bf9c 75b6bf9c"
and after that message it says can't create folder K:PSP/GAME/RECOVERY.
So I created that folder manually too, but it still doesn't work...
any ideas what might be wrong?
Is there any other easy-to-use recovery installer?

What I think might be wrong is that that program doesn't work on 3.40 OE-C it only works on 3.03 or lower, but I could be wrong.

ugh...It works, thats the exact program I used when I had 3.40OE-A(still do, just had to redo the xmb). You have to select the drive that your psp is. Go to my computer and see which drive letter the psp is labeled then select that one when the winstaller asks you where the psp is. And make sure your memory card has enough space. And make sure your using the 1.50 recovery one. That one right there is about as easy as it comes.

I'm serious..thers only 4 options and they are drive F G H or I and I use K. Also ive tried all of them...with all of them i get that weird message saying error..and then saying can't create K:PSP/GAME/RECOVERY...which is what I need..but seriously it only gives me F G H or I as option..which one do you use? K as well or other?

Weird man, cuz I just ran the program and F,G,H,I pop up only, then I exited the program completely, plugged up my psp (it uses M) and this is what it looked like:

Are you sure your starting it after you plug up the psp? Seems it will only recognize it once the psp is plugged up and it is restarted.
