Ok, I have a brewed PSP currently with system software of 3.10 OE-A'.
I have been trying to update it to the version 3.40 OE-A.
I downloaded all files necessary (IE 3.40 OE-A, PSP FW 3.40 for the US, PSP Firmware 1.50 File (EBOOT) North America) from this site.
I renamed the firmwares 150.pbp and 350.pbp respectively and ran the oeupdmaker eboot file.
It occurred an error with the MD5 or SHA1 (can't remember which one).
I transfered the DATA.DXAR file over to 340oeflasher and ran it, there was an error and the program exited.
I've worked on trying to figure this out for the last three days on my own and have come here because you guys seem to know what you are talking about when it comes to this stuff. So, please do your magic and help me figure this out... I will forever be in debt!
Thanx

You could either get an autoinstaller for 3.40OE-A(Which I have never used one) or downgrade back to 1.50(using the 1.50 recovery winstaller found here
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/460892 ) then upgrade to 3.40OE-A. I would do the latter since I never really used one of them autoinstaller but you can probably find one in the downloads section.

when you say "upgrade to 3.40OE-A" after downgrading does that mean use the "PSP FW 3.40 for the US" file found on the page

Nooo 3.40OE-A is the name of the 3.40 version custom firmware. You have to ugprade to that custom firmware after you downgrade to 1.50 . You just used 3.40OE-A in your post! Why would I want you to upgrade to a sony firmware and not a custom firmware?

uhh ltshvfnk I don't think thats what he meant, but just use the link ace give you, don't bother with
the U.S. that is the official Sony Firmware and you won't be able to play ISOs of any sort.
The Jap version is the same too btw.

Ok, so I downgraded to "Version 1.50" I continued to do as I did before IE:
I downloaded all files necessary (IE 3.40 OE-A, PSP FW 3.40 for the US, PSP Firmware 1.50 File (EBOOT) North America) from this site.
I renamed the firmwares 150.pbp and 350.pbp respectively and ran the oeupdmaker eboot file.
It then had a SHA1 error (same error as before) and said try again - three attempts later - here I am. When I try to run the flasher it says corrupt or incorrect DXAR file. Any suggestions guys?

How did you downgrade to 1.5? The way I told you? And also you have to do the first step with making the dxar file correct without getting any errors or when you try to run the flasher then it will just say bad dxar file. You could always use the dxar file from an autoinstaller.

Sorry for not clarifying...
Yeah I downgraded with the winstaller.
I have yet to do the first step and not get the same error (with about 6 attempts now).
I've been looking for an autoinstaller and cannot find one, can you by chance point me in the right direction.
Thanks so much for the help guys...

So what I will attempt to do next is just try and update it to 3.30 oe-a.
If that works I will try and follow it up with an update to 3.40 oe-a.
Does that sound like it will get me to 3.40 oe-a? I was reading on taking the dxar from one of these auto installers (which I still haven't found) could brick the precious, precious psp.

About anything you do can brick your psp man. I have no clue what's up with your psp though. Just upgrade to 3.03OE-C and see if that works. Because obviously your not going to be able to upgrade to 3.40OE-A for some weird reason.

I couldn't find the way to update it to 3.03 oe-a, so I just attempted to bring it back to its orriginal 3.10 oe-a and not have bricked it. I am so depressed...

Just download 3.03OE-C from our downloads section and follow the readme. 3.10OE-A isn't really all that good anyways.

Naw man, my psp is bricked now... can't even do a cold boot... I give up I shouldn't have touched it in the first place
*so I'm F***ed and thats that, nothing I can do shy of mod chipping it?
(to which I have no clue and I would probably blow the planet up attempting that considering this f*** up)

How did you brick it O.o If it was at 1.5 when it was bricked then your screwed. Welcome to the world of $250 paperweights. You can either put a chip in it or buy a new mobo with a firmware other then 3.51.
